Splendors and Glooms
Tell me about this book! I want to know what you thought of it and what you thought about the ending? I am wondering what Parsefall meant by saying "I have somekin to tell you." That has me thinking. I think he is very mischevious and will make things difficult for the Wintermute family. What do you think?

I thought it was a good book although I didn't like the parts where it felt so long and dragged on. I wish the ending had more action to it along with the rest of the book. It felt really long though, but I would maybe recommend this to a friend. I think Parsefall might act better now because he is around everybody. He might also be the same because he never was taught polite manners and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this book. I did not think that Clara would call Lizzie Rose and Parsefall her brother and sister. When Parsefall said to Clara "I have somekin to tell you" I think he meant to tell Clara that we should put the brass monkey on Griseeni's grave. I think Parsefall will make things difficult for the Wintermute family because he always gets into mischief and the Wintermutes are all proper and Parsefall is not.
ReplyDeleteI think this story was the BOMB, because it got to me like what was going to happen next. What I think of the ending was it was so good and it was fantastic and awesome. I am with you there I do think Parsefall might give the Wintermute family a hard time.
ReplyDeleteI think that the book was good and it had lots of things going on but it was good at the end because Gersiny is not going to hurt Parsville and Lisy Rose or Clara.

ReplyDeleteI did not like the book it was not my type. I just did not get some of the stuff that they did like why would he steel her. And I think that he was saying that because he wanted to tell her and no one else.
ReplyDeleteI am also thinking about what he meant by him saying "I have somekin to tell you.". I think he wants to tell Lizzy Rose that he might have stolen the fire opal while they were leaving Spatchings Gild. I also think he might stop his mischevious ways of thievery. Although I think he stole the fire opal... I'm thinking deeply on this one... I really enjoyed this book because it was full of mystery and adventure and just a hint of horror. I think it has a little bit of horror because Gricini was sneaking into Parcefall's room at night and threatening him that if he didn't steal the fire opal for him he would torture Lizzy Rose and him. There was a lot of adventure I think because they were traveling the land for somewhere safer they could live instead of in London. I think it was also mysterious the way how Gricini came back when everyone thought he was dead from falling down the stairs the first time.

ReplyDeleteI thought that the ending was awesome because I did not know what was going to happen. I thought that the witch was going to live but then she died. It was so sad that the witch died because only 2 people liked her. I was so shocked that Grsemea died because you would not think of falling throw the ice. I think that Parsefall is going to be a hand full to the Wintermute family because he is not use to being in a family like this.

I think that Parsefall meant to say that because he was going to tell her because he didn't know what to do with the monkey. I also think that he is going learn how to be nice instead of being mean and cause he knows how to read. I also think that Parsefall was going to help at the funeral but instead he just went to the wake. I also think that the Wintermute family would be proud of his work.
ReplyDeleteI thought that it was a awesome book because they were in the witches house and got to take what ever they want and one of them got a gun with a pillow case full of stuff. At the end of the story Clara is not a puppet.
ReplyDeleteI really like this book because they always leave the reader hanging and trying to figure out what is going to happen next. Like when Parsefall was talking to lizzie rose and then they had the three dots and it started a new chapter and it talked about something else then the dots came again. I loved the ending because they had to leave quickly before gricini came back alive !

ReplyDeleteI loved the ending of the book it was awesome because it was surprising that Clara said that Lizzie Rose and Parsefall were going to be her brother and sister. I think that it might take Parsefall time to stop stealing but after a while he will because he doesn't have a reason to steal any more.
ReplyDeleteI think Parsefall meant that he was going to tell her what he was going to do with the monkey. I also think he is going to grow up be a nice boy who knows how to read and the Wintermute family will be proud of him. I thought that the book was a good one and that it was interesting. When we were reading the part when the doorbell rang, at first I thought it was Grisini but then I remembered that Clara’s parents were coming I knew it was them.

ReplyDeleteWhile you were reading I thought about why would all those people torcher Lizzy Rose? i thought that the end was okay but there needs to be another book because its a never ending story. i think paresfall said that because he has the fire opal.
