Beauty Contest

During this last chapter, Billy is finding out what it is like to be part of a "band" of hunters.  The contest is all he hoped for, but also very unfamiliar to him.  At one point, he finds out there is a "Beaut Contest" for the best looking dog.  I really don't think Billy has any idea what a beauty contest is or how to prepare for one (he ends up using butter to groom his dogs).  But in the end, his true love for his dogs shows and it even helps him win the contest.  Little Ann ends up walking straight to him and everyone goes crazy when this happens.  He ends up winning the silver cup.  Even though I have read this book 20 times, it still makes me feel so proud and happy for Billy when good things happen because of all the hard work he has put in.  What are your thoughts about the Beauty Contest?  How are you feeling as we read this story?

    I can not believe he used buter to groom them. I like this book it is better then I thought.

    I didn't think that Billy would win beause he had never been in a Beauty Contest and he used butter to groom Little Ann. I am also feeling happy for Billy, too.

    i liked it win he put little ann in the contest and won i thouth she would win cause her cute little face imexeted to see what going to happen text.

    That was a good idea he made by putting butter on the dog to make it shine. I can't belive he won the beauty contest

    I was surprised that little Ann would come straight to him and not copy the other dog that hopped off the table and got the audience wild up. But she waked down the table and won the silver cup! I would be so happy with my dog.

    My feelings about this story is this book is awsome and soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great and fuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think it was cool that Little Ann won 1st place because there were dogs that were butiful and big.

    I think the story was awsome and i liked the first thing when he read the book because when he read to us i was excited what is going to happen and when he stoped the story it was great.

    I can't believe that Billy actually groomed his dog with butter. MMMMM that must have smelled good! I'm glad for him especially because of the loyalty of his pets.

    That was very impressive that little Ane came right to him. Also how he used butter on his dogs. I really like this story it is very and I don't want it to be over.

    I was very surprised that little Ann actually won. He used butter and a hair brush, and he actually won. There were bigger dogs here who had more experience, and yet little Ann won. Wow.

    I don’t think that Billy knows how to prepare for a contest or what to do with little Ann. I can’t believe that little Ann won the contest. I really think that is so cool that he thought that butter and his dads comb would make little Ann shine. I’m really happy for Billy and little Ann.

    I thought it was funny that the grandpa’s reaction scared him when he saw that the comb had dog hair in it! I didn’t think that Billy would be scared of him. I like how Billy shined Little Ann up with butter!

    I can’t believe that that Billy used butter and his grandpa’s comb without asking even though he knew not to. I didn’t think that Little Ann was trained so well to come to Billy in the Beauty Contest and that it almost seemed that Little Ann knew what Billy was talking about winning the Beauty Contest.
