I'm thinking Justin is a real stand up guy. By stand up, I mean he's a really good person. I love how this chapter is simply his thoughts. If you think about it, you hear how everyone has sacrificed to help Auggie. Justin is now a person who can't get Auggie out of his thoughts so I think he is going to be one of those people who helps Auggie in some way.
I was really taken aback by Via's comments about her brother. On one had, I totally get why she doesn't want Auggie to come. But on the other, I don't know why she is making a big deal out of it. But I also don't know what it would be like to have a brother or sister like Auggie.

I agree Mr. Hummel. That would sort of suck to have a brother like Auggie. Having to worry about not being seen with someone you know people are going to pick on you about. But, I feel like she is sort of putting Justin in an awkward position. Because what if he doesn’t feel the same way?

It's hard to make the decision. Justin hasn't had to deal with this his entire life. Sure it's the right thing to do. But what if you've been dealing with this your entire life? Would that change the way you think? I think it would. I think what she is having a hard time dealing with is that fact that her feelings are changing and she doesn't know why. She hates feeling this way and doesn't know how or what it happened.

DeleteYeah, that really surprised me that she would be embarrassed if Augie comes to the play. Why would she be embarrassed now if she hasn't before? It must be the new school where nobody knows that August is her brother. If I were her, I wouldn't be embarrassed instead I would just be like she was before where she doesn't care about her popularity and just ignores it.

DeleteI was surprised too how Via said that I thought about Cathren when she said that. I didn't think Via would ever say that. I loved how Justin said that I loved it that would be funny if the boys actually found out that was a fiddle I thought that was funny.

DeleteFirst of all Justin is such a good guy even to Jack, when the bus left Justin was going to the subway and he saw the 3 same kids and he messed up there day (maybe) and I do think that Justin is going to help Auggie in a way, Also if I had a bro or sis that looked like Auggie I wouldn't care but the problem will be the standing up for him

ReplyDeleteIt would be really difficult. I don't know how I would handle it or what I would do. To think that you always have to be on watch and stick up for him would be exhausting. It reminds of Rules. How Catherine always had to stick up for David.

Because Auggie talks about how Via always stood up for him and now she doesn't even want to have him come see her preform!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't blame via for not telling her parent's about her show. I mean if I had a brother like that and I had to stand up for him all the time but if no body knew about him then I wouldn't have to stand up for him every day at school. If he would be there and people would see him and make fun of him and via would stand up for him and people would make fun of her brother behind her bake.
ReplyDeleteI really think that Justin is one of those kids that feel bad for people that have issues like what August has or has gone through in his life because he might fell sorry for them or want to help them but, doesn't know how to help them. Via, on the other hand might want to help kids because she might not want kids to have to go through what she had to and because she might be opening up to now realizing that August does have issues and that she at this point can't do anything until she is older.
